Children of immigrants living in Portugal for over a year will be considered Portuguese at birth

The changes also include making the nationality process easier for foreigners who are married or in a common-law marriage with a Portuguese partner. Furthermore, Portuguese nationality will be returned to Africans from the former colonies who lost it, in 1975, because they had been living in Portugal for less than five years.
